Pro Shift I/O Features

Thrust Maximization
Most stand alone shift lights only use RPM as an input, and only warn of approaching red-line as an engine preservation and safety feature. More expensive race computers allow for gear dependent shift points, such that each gear shift is indicated so that the maximum acceleration for any given speed is achieved. We have created the first shift light that uses both RPM and Speed inputs so that a shift light can support different (user settable) shift points for each gear. For the stock versions of the new MINI, we have calculated these shift points for you, so all that is required is selecting the car model and model year in the configuration software. For those that have highly modified engines, all that is required is the HP or Torque curve vs RPM, and the shift point can be calculated in Excel with very little effort.
 
Colors colors colors!
We at FES realize that your human-car interface is a very personal thing. That is why we’ve incorporated variable color display technology into our shift light. Any color can be selected for both shift warning, shift point and red-line colors. Do you like purple? Or blue? Or orange or yellow or green? Nearly infinite variable color selection is supported via the configuration software. And any color combination can be saved as part of your car profile.

The core of the TrackCoach ProShift product series is a state-of-the-art computer chip that is more powerful than the original Personal Computer! FES has harnessed this technology to give you the most powerful shift light ever made. The microcontroller at the heart of the ProShift is what lets you have all the colors you want, does the math for the gear dependent shift points, controls the digital outputs and streams the RPM and Speed data when connected to a computer! All this from a chip that's smaller than the nail on your little finger.
 
Control via Digital Outputs
Providing color customization and thrust maximizing shift points wasn’t enough for us at FES. We also wanted the customer to have the ability to control other items as well. That’s why we’ve provided four user customizable digital outputs for whatever use you want! The setpoints can be a function of RPM, speed or both, limited only by your imagination. While the direct outputs are limited to low current levels, they can be used to drive relays to control higher levels of current if needed for fans, pumps or whatever. (Optional high current modules are currently under development.)
 
ProShift Configuration Software
Early in product development, we realized that this little shift light has too much in it to be controlled via a couple little buttons or a knob like other manufacturers provide. That’s why there is a Mini-USB connector on the back. Just plug in your computer and our supplied software allows you to load configurations with a simple mouse click. Any combination of items can be stored as a profile so that you can change features as needed, or set up more than one shift light if you own more than one MINI! Besides being able to load configurations, you can control the digital outputs manually to test wiring of items controlled by the digital outputs, and the data can be used to log RPM and Speed if you have the computer plugged in while driving.
 
Any Variable Frequency Signal Source
The TrackCoach™ ProShift I/O Shift Light uses variable frequency signal inputs for both RPM and vehicle speed. User settable scaling factors allow for integration onto virtually any variable frequency data source, and allow the unit to be used with any car that has digital RPM and vehicle speed signal. If only an RPM signal is available, the unit will work as a standard shiftlight, just gear dependent shift points will not be supported.
