Ian Stewart wins the 2009 NASA TTC National Championship. Ian was the second fastest car on the track of all the groups and won the TTC class championship at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.

Despite having to detune the car due to class power to weight ratio rules, Ian was .077 seconds away from being the fastest car of all classes. The Aquamist system proved to be a valuable asset in the heat and Ian's driving skills proved to be too much for the competition. Congratulations to Ian and all involved.
Ian has been tearing up the the east coast NASA TTC category this summer. With fresh modifications to the car and while still tuning the new W/A system, Ian was less than a second off the lap record this summer at Homestead while winning his class. With further tuning of the car and refinements to the Aquamist HFS-5, he smashed the lap record at Sebring by nearly 3.6 seconds, with a 2:32, with his closest in class competitor 2.5 seconds behind in the 100F heat. Returning to Sebring after the National Champoinship, Ian put the MINI as the only FWD street car ever to break 2:30 at Sebring.
Next up with some new hardware on the car was Road Atlanta. Ian once again dominated the field with a 1:39.5. To put this in perspective, the lap record for the TTA class, two classes above Ian's and dominated by Z06's and STI's, in 2007 was 1:40. Ian spent the day battling the Z06's for track position to try for an even faster lap but couldn't get one good flyer in. Ian finished the season by winning the TTC class National Championship at Miller Motorsports Park.
Howerton Engineering originally developed the Aquamist HFS-5 MINI Cooper kit for Revolution MINI Works. Working closely with RMW, Howerton Engineering supplied the kit and tank for Ian's car, and has been providing technical assistance throughout the season. The Aquamist system has recently undergone some revisions including a custom located fuel cell, AN fittings and braided lines throughout, and custom sheet metal and machining work for locating and covering the system in the car.
